Years of Heritage in Hebron
The story of Al-Haymouni family begins over 700 years ago. Our early ancestors migrated from the Hijaz (Medina) towards Iraq, then settled in Hauran, southern Syria, before journeying to Hebron during the late Mamluk and early Ottoman eras.
They resided in the historic Al-Sawakina Quarter near the Ibrahimi Mosque. Our roots trace back to the Hashemite Husseini Lineage — a documented lineage reaching Imam Hussein bin Ali and the Prophet's household (PBUH).
The prominent historian Mujir al-Din al-Ulaymi mentioned our family in his renowned book (The Glorious History of Jerusalem and Hebron) in 1494 CE, describing us as a family of 'knowledge and righteousness'. In sharia court records and Ottoman registers, our ancestors were consistently given the title 'Al-Sharif' or 'Al-Sayyid' — an official title granted only to those with definitive descent from the Prophet's family.
